Fun Friday!

Well this was a short week but we got a lot accomplished!

In reading we are reading such a great book! The students are loving Maniac Magee! We are reading with partners, on our own, in groups, and as a class. They are getting the chance to see what life was like when the towns were segregated, and how a little boy lived life as though the towns were not. This is a great book and it has a lot of great lessons within the text! The author uses TONS of figurative language, so we are practicing that as we read!

Most students are finishing up their country reports on Monday or Tuesday. We have quite a few students who are already finished! Stay posted next week toward the end of the week for a picture of our country report/flags display!

Math has been running very smoothly! We have been working on fractions lately and the students are doing very well! We will be learning how to add and subtract fractions next week! We will have a test on Thursday next week. The test is on comparing fractions, ordering fractions, finding equivalent fractions, and finding a fraction of a number.

We have been talking about William Penn and finding PA. Next week, we will be researching Philadelphia!

Here are some pictures from the week!!!

Here we are working on creating a graph!!!

Working on nonfiction text structure! The students are working in their new teams on putting the sequence of events in order from the Muhammad Ali article!!!

Here the students are working on answer questions on Edmodo! We are working with Mr. Kratzer's class on answering and asking questions about the book we are reading!

READY, SET, DASH!!!!!!!

A little treat after the DRAGON DASH! Happy Birthday Julia!

Here is Kid President! We love watching his videos!

Students are working on tying and untying knotts! This goes along with our book Maniac Magee!

Now, the students are reading in partners and groups of three to read a few chapters in Maniac Magee! Some were also enjoying their snack during this time!

Happy Friday Everyone!

Here we are another week down for the year! I cannot believe how fast this year is going!

It is so hard to get our schedule down each week since we always have a delay or a day off! I am hoping that we do not get any more snow days this year, so we can ensure that we have some of our spring break!

Here is what we are up to in our classroom!

This week we finished another section of math, and we are getting into more data analysis next week! We are getting closer and closer to the famous PSSA's and the students are doing so well!

In reading, we are hitting nonfiction pretty hard and working on looking at how author's organize the information in a passage. We are going to be starting a new novel next week on Tuesday.

In writing, the students are working hard on finding the information for their country report! They have done such a nice job on finding the information and taking notes on it! We should be drafting out reports by next week!

In science the students are working on a new unit, ELECTRICITY! They are pretty excited about it!

For social studies, we are talking about our founder, William Penn. We are doing different activities with this in class!

Here are some pictures from our classroom!

Here are a few of our girls huddling up to stay warm at recess!

In these pictures, the students are working in partners on their math for the day!

Here are a few students relaxing in our new crazy chair!

These students are using the ipads to research information for their country report!

Finally, these students are working on nonfiction! They are reading about the 1919 Molasses Flood in Boston.
